Lexington, Kentucky has quickly risen as a great place for small businesses.  High rankings across the board position this little town just in the right place for building a new start up.

Let’s start with Lexington’s highly educated population.  With two universities in the heart of the city and five other major colleges within an hour’s drive, getting your diploma in central Kentucky could’t be more convenient.

Although Lexington only ranks as the Nation’s 66th largest city according to the US Census Bureau, it ranks much higher in several categories for quality of life and small business favorable atmosphere.  All of the surrounding institutions of higher education have certainly paid dividends to the central Kentucky city.  Lexington ranks as the 27th most literate city in the country.  Meaning it has a highly educated population and ready workforce.

The City ranks 12th in Bachelors degrees and 6th in advanced degrees.  Saying there are a few brilliant, young entrepreneurs here would be an understatement.

If you’re looking for a nice place to a small business start up then look no further than the Horse Capitol of the World.  Lexington ranks in the top ten for cities with the lowest start up costs.

Forbes ranks Lexington as 7th in America’s Best Cities for Jobs.  But don’t let all these rankings garble exactly what draws people to this area.

Lexington is an absolutely beautiful place.  With rolling hills and green pastures surrounding a city that is well manicured and has a vibrant history, Lexington is more than just a place to grow and start a business.

From the Bourbon Trail to the racetrack at the stunning Keeneland facility, there’s always something to do and see in and around the city.

The government leaders in the City of Lexington have created a favorable environment for businesses to open, operate and relocate.  With several different grants and tax incentives it’s no wonder so many business survive and thrive here.

But Lexington also goes far beyond just the working years.  It ranks as one of the best places to retire according to CNN Money Magazine.  Miles and miles of walking and biking trails, several YMCA indoor athletic facilities, and some of the best medical facilities and access to more doctors than nearly anywhere in the nation it’s no wonder so many people who live and work here never leave.
